Duda heads to UK for high level meetings; energy support scheme on track

POLAND
  • The government are set to launch their energy support scheme for power-intensive firms before the summer holidays, according to minister Buda in PB today. The scheme is currently with the European Union. Separately, Buda argued that Polish imports from Ukraine could be subject to quotas to protect domestic markets and the broader European economy.
  • Alongside the continued arming of Ukraine, Poland are also set to receive defensive hardware this month, with the defense minister this morning announces the receipt of 5 HIMARS rocket launcher systems in May.
  • Rzeczpospolita cites economists as saying Polish real wages should rise slightly in H2 this year, with the upswing to begin at some point between July and September.
  • President Duda begins a two-day visit to the UK today, at which he will meet with both the UK PM Sunak as well as the Canadian PM Trudeau. Official reserves data are the sole release Friday.
