    • From a year ago, the economy contracted 2.6%, more than the 2.3% decline economists had projected.
  • Near-term growth prospects appear bleak amid a surge in Covid-19 cases and deaths and no clear direction for economic policy. With the government struggling to find financing and real interest rates running in negative territory, there is little room for policy stimulus. (BBG)
