EdF Extends More Nuclear Outages

ENERGY

France’s EdF has again extended several nuclear outages, further reducing availability for this week and next, while forecasts of colder weather in the region are expected to support heating demand, EdF remit data show.

  • 1,33GW Flamanville 2 outage has been extended to 1 Dec, from 26 Nov.
  • 915MW Cruas 2 outage has been extended to 5 Dec, from 27 Nov.
  • 890MW Dampierre 2 outage has been extended to 9 Dec, from 29 Nov.
  • Power consumption in France is forecast to peak at around 66.2GW within the next seven days, while nuclear availability stood at only 30.9GW as of Wednesday morning, data from RTE show.
  • Lower nuclear availability paired with increased demand amid colder weather could support French gas-fired generation. French gas-fired output averaged 6.04GW on Monday, data from entso-e show.
  • French natural gas reserves stood at 98.88% capacity on 21 Nov, after seeing four days of continuous net storage withdrawals, AGSI data show.
  • TTF DEC 22 last traded at €129.77/MWh.
