EIA Revise Down Consumption and Production for 2023

The EIA Short-Term Energy Outlook released yesterday forecast a fall in global oil consumption and well as a fall in global production.

  • Global oil production for 2023 is forecast 600kbpd lower than in the September STEO to average 100.7mbpd. The forecast reflects announced cuts from OPEC+ as well as lower forecast crude oil production in the US.
  • The forecast for global oil consumption for 2023 is reduced by 500kbpd from the September STEO at 101mbpd and reflects the lower Oxford Economics forecast for global GDP growth in 2023 to 2.2% this month from 2.7% last month.
