Election Campaign Still In Focus

  • The main opposition Civic Platform announced its candidates for the upcoming parliamentary elections, including several representatives of the AGROunion movement, registered as a political party last year. The partnership with AGROunion, which had recently been in talks with the centrist Third Way, but the negotiations collapsed. Rzeczpospolita wrote that the move may weaken the Civic Platform's rivals in the opposition and allow it to make some inroads into rural areas dominated by the governing Law and Justice party.
  • The lower house will debate the government's motion to hold a referendum alongside the upcoming elections. The vote is expected at 09:30BST/10:30CEST.
