CANADA: ELECTION WATCH: Liberal Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's chances of
re-election on Oct. 21 with majority government is 42% according to CBC poll
tracker. Liberals and Conservatives led by Andrew Scheer statistically tied for
popular support at 34%, CBC tracker shows.
-Conservatives over weekend pledged to cut lowest income tax bracket to 13.75%
from 15%, saying it will save average family C$850/yr. Main Liberal economic
pledge in first week of campaign is 1% tax to curb real-estate speculation by
foreign buyers. 
-Scheer's comments over weekend standing by candidates who have apologized for
past insensitive social media comments may alienate some voters.
-A party must win majority of 338 seats in House of Commons to pass budgets and
legislation without opposition support.
