Energy Names Lead Early Europe Gains

  • Asian markets closed higher: Japan's NIKKEI closed up 218.19 pts or +0.84% at 26153.81 and the TOPIX ended 24.67 pts higher or +1.34% at 1869.71. China's SHANGHAI closed up 17.79 pts or +0.53% at 3405.427 and the HANG SENG ended 29.44 pts lower or -0.13% at 21830.35.
  • European stocks have gained, with Energy stocks outperforming (Tech and Real Estate names are lagging), with the German Dax up 25.32 pts or +0.2% at 12831.03, FTSE 100 up 65.62 pts or +0.92% at 7249.76, CAC 40 up 43.06 pts or +0.73% at 5975.62 and Euro Stoxx 50 up 14.46 pts or +0.42% at 3457.39.
  • U.S. futures are a little softer on the July 4 holiday (cash markets are closed), with the Dow Jones mini down 174 pts or -0.56% at 30887, S&P 500 mini down 24 pts or -0.63% at 3803.25, NASDAQ mini down 73.25 pts or -0.63% at 11538.
