  • Erdogan urges international efforts to stem Afghan migrant wave and bring stability back to Afghanistan as Turkey faces new influx of refugees after Taliban takes Kabul.
    • Late last night the Taliban took Kabul as Afghan President Ashram Ghani Fled the country. Roughly 1,000 refugees are crossing the Iranian border into Turkey every day according to official data.
    • Erdogan said Turkey will continue to work with Pakistan to stem the wave of migrants, but failed to address the issue of Turkey's planned takeover of the Kabul airport.
    • CHP leader called on Ankara to withdraw all troops and police stationed there. Taliban Officials say they perceive Turkey as an ally, not an enemy and would like to build closer ties on Sunday
  • IMF lower Turkey's growth forecast for 2021 & 2022 to 5.8% from 6% and 3.2% from 3.5%.
    • Negative aspects of Turkey's investment and production climate, as well as frequent changed and uncertainty of govt decisions were key factors in the downgrade.
    • Other factors were cessation of FDI, acceleration of capital outflows,risisng unemployment, productions costs TRY depreciation and heavy debt burden of individuals/businesses
