Eskom Implements Load-Shedding (Rolling Blackouts) as the Grid Becomes Constrained

  • ESKOM SAYS LOAD SHEDDING STAGE 2 WILL BE IMPLEMENTED FROM 22:00 - 05:00 THIS EVENING AND REPEATED ON WEDNESDAY - via twitter
  • Comes after a warning yesterday that the grid was critically constrained
  • 9,745MW currently on planned maintenance and 11,346MW is down due to unplanned breakdowns
  • Although this comes during off peak hours, the concern is that if the grid becomes more constrained, then it will need to occur during work hours which is extremely damaging to the economy
