Eskom implemented stage 4 blackouts yesterday after eight generators went down over the weekend and has said that SA will return to stage 2 today. However, this is highly uncertain. – EWN
  • Second union (Nehawu) announces a strike at SA Revenue services (SARS) over wages and said it plans to coordinate a “full-blown national strike.” Comes after the Public Servants Association issued a strike notice last week Wednesday. SARS is offering a 0% increase, while the PSU is demanding CPI +7% & Nehawu is calling for an 11.5% increase – Fin24
  • Eskom COO says the root cause of Eskom’s problems in the generation unit is a shortage of both system capacity and funding. Says the energy availability factor has fallen from 90%to 60% over the lest two decades due to corruption and a lack of maintenance – MoneyWeb
  • Zuma’s corruption case in back in court today, but is broadly expected to be postponed as he is still waiting for the outcome of his reconsideration application to the president of the Supreme Court of Appeal. - SABC
