EU Funds 213MW of Finnish PV

The European Commission has awarded €27.5mn of funding to build about 213MW of Finnish PV capacity, with most of the projects expected to come online over 2025-26, it said.

  • The funding will help build the 20MW Loukkaanaro, 8MW Niityneva and 7.8MW Ohrasuo PV parks, which are expected to be operational in 2025.
  • Support will also be given to the 30MW Koirivaara PV park, which will be operational in January 2026.
  • The 33MW Honkisaarenneva, 74MW Kuortane and 40.16MW Poytya PV farms have also received funding. The commissioning date of these units is not yet known.
  • The funding agreements for the projects were signed between March-May 2024.
  • Finnish PV capacity is expected to triple by 2030, with about 1GW of PV installed at the end of 2023, according to firm DNV.
