EU Gas and Power Fall in Low Liquidity

TTF front month gas dropped as much as 11% to 242€/MWH before bouncing back up to 259€/MWh.

  • German 1-year electricity also fell in early trading down to 625€/MWh from a peak of more than 1,000€/MWh on Monday.
  • Low liquidity is adding to market volatility and price swings.
  • EU is planning urgent steps over the coming days and weeks to bring down soaring power prices. They are looking to sever the link between gas and electricity costs. An extraordinary meeting of EU energy ministers has been called for Sep 9.
