EU Gas Maintenance: Norwegian Flows Recover

NATURAL GAS

Norwegian natural gas supplies to Europe are recovering on Monday from lows last week but outage extensions to several facilities, including the large Troll fields, will keep supplies tighter than expected, Gassco remit data show.

  • Natural gas flows from Norway to Europe recovered on Monday to 145.4mcm/d, after falling to lows since at least 2015 last week. Capacity curtailments are scheduled to further ease this week. Unavailable capacity on Tuesday is scheduled at 189.53mcm/d and at 157.59mcm/d on Wednesday.
  • Annual maintenance at the 125mcm/d Troll field has been further extended until 13 Sept. The field was initially planned to end the bulk of annual maintenance on 7 Sept. 95mcm/d of capacity will be unavailable on 13-14 Sept, 45mcm/d in 14-16 Sept and 6mcm/d on 16 Sept until 5 Oct.
  • Some of the capacity of the large Kollsnes facility has returned after several extensions. 83mcm/d of capacity will be unavailable until Tuesday and 11mcm/d on 12-20 Sept.
  • The Ormen Lange maintenance has been delayed by two days to start 14 Sept until 3 October, affecting 24.5mcm/d.
  • The unplanned outage at Aasta Hansteen has been extended by one day until Tuesday, limiting output by 25.8mcm/d. Output will be curtailed by 12.9mcm/d on 12-13 Sept. The duration of the outage remains uncertain.
  • The Visund field is currently ramping up until Tuesday, affecting 6.9mcm/d.
