EU Gas Maintenance: Norwegian Flows To Recover From 7 Sept

Norwegian annual gas maintenance continues to limit piped gas flows to Europe, while supplies recovered slightly on the day as the maintenance peak has been reached the past weekend and Monday. Elsewhere, annual maintenance in the UK and France is also ongoing.

  • Pipeline natural gas flows from Norway to Europe stood at 137mcm/d today, after falling to the lowest level since at least 2015 on Monday of 128mcm/d. Flows are expected to recover from Thursday.
  • An unplanned outage at the Aasta Hansteen will limit output 25.8mcm/d on 2-7 Sept and by 5.8mcm/d on 7-8 Sept. The duration of the outage remains uncertain.
  • Works at Oseberg have been begun today until 11 Sept, limiting output by 15.5mcm/d and on 11-16 Sept, affecting 10.5mcm/d.
  • The Ormen Lange field will start annual maintenance on 9 Sept until 30 Sep, affecting 24.5mcm/d.
  • The Kollsnes processing plant will have a reduced capacity of 153mcm/d until Thursday. Output will be curtailed by 83mcm/d on 7-8 Sept, and of 11mcm/d on 8-20 Sept.
  • Works at the Troll field with unavailable capacity of 123.5mcm/d will end 8 Sept. Output will be reduced by 60mcm/d on 8-9 Sept, by 45mcm/d on 9-10 Sept and by 10 Sept until 5 Oct by 10mcm/d.
  • The Karsto processing plant is scheduled to have annual maintenance until 17 Sept, affecting 12.6mcm/d.
  • Smaller works at the Kvitebjorn, Visund and Dvalin fields will end on 19 Sept, 8 Sept and 7 Sept, respectively.
  • In the UK, the St. Fergus gas terminal will have curtailed capacity of 26.8mcm/d until Thursday before rising to 30.8mcm/d until 29 Sept. The Barrow North Terminal will return on Friday.
  • There are currently no flows on the BBL pipeline since today until 11 Sept.
  • In France, the Fos Cavaou LNG terminal will have no shipments from 9 Sept until 2 Oct. The Dunkirk gas terminal will have reduced capacity util 9 September of 47mcm/d.
