EU Gas Storage Injections Increase as Norway Supplies Return

NATURAL GAS

European natural gas storage is up to 94.74% full on 23 Sep with injection rates recovering slightly in recent days according to GIE data and compared to the five year average of 86.1%.

  • Net injection rates had dropped to almost nothing at the peak of the Norwegian maintenance season earlier in September but have started to recover as pipeline supplies from Norway slowly increase. Net injections averaged about 1,220GWh/d in the week to 25 Sep compared to the five year average for the period of just over 2,330GWh/d.
  • Ukraine storage is up to 36.65% full with foreign companies storing natural gas in the country this summer as EU stores near capacity.
  • Storage in Germany is at 240.8Wh (94.8% full), Italy is at 186.4TWh (95.4%), Netherlands at 136.6TWh (95.9%), France at 122.7Wh (90.0%) and Austria at 91.4TWh (93.6%).
