POWER: EU Mid-Day Power Summary: CWE February Falls, Nordic February Rises

CWE front-month power futures are trending lower on Monday with losses in the energy complex, with Germany leading losses. Nordic front-month power futures are shrugging off losses in neighbouring markets to trade higher with support from the Forsmark 3 nuclear outage extension.
- Nordic Base Power FEB 25 up 2.2% at 34.5 EUR/MWh
- France Base Power FEB 25 down 2.9% at 101.9 EUR/MWh
- Germany Base Power FEB 25 down 3.8% at 110.4 EUR/MWh
- EUA DEC 25 down 2.8% at 79.37 EUR/MT
- TTF Gas FEB 25 down 2.5% at 48.45 EUR/MWh
- TTF front month is pulling back amid a reduction in storage withdrawals as mild weather across Europe eases demand pressures, with additional downside from talks on EU gas supply from Azerbaijan and the first cargo from the Hammerfest LNG plant.
- EU ETS December 2025 allowances have extended losses throughout the morning amid losses in EU gas prices.
- The latest EU ETS CAP3 auction cleared lower at €77.70/ton CO2e, compared with the previous auction at €79.06/ton CO2e according to EEX.
- German offshore wind farms in the North Sea increased output by 8% on the year to 20.8TWh in 2024.
- EdF announced the success of additional bond issues on existing bond issues for a total of €480mn and £100mn to finance its strategy and its objective of contributing to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

- Sweden’s 448MW Oresundsverket Malmo gas unit remains offline for recommissioning, with test runs at varying loads ongoing until 17 February.
- Aker Solutions and SLB Capturi have been awarded a contract for the Hafslund Celsio CCS waste-to-energy plant in Oslo that is scheduled to be completed by 2029.
