EU Storage Injection Rates Recover

NATURAL GAS

European natural gas storage is up to 95.42% full on 30 Sep according to GIE data with injections up closer to normal rates in recent days and compared to the five year average of 87.4%.

  • Net injection rates had dropped to almost nothing at the peak of the Norwegian maintenance season in mid September but have since recovered back to around 18.9% below the five year average last week. Net injections averaged about 1,656GWh/d in the week to 30 Sep compared to the five year average for the period of just over 2,040GWh/d.
  • Nearly all 18 EU AGSI reporting countries have reached the EUA pre winter target of 90% full storage. Storage in Germany is at 243.2Wh (95.7% full), Italy is at 188.1TWh (96.3%), Netherlands at 137.15TWh (96.3%), France at 125.5Wh (92.7%) and Austria at 92.3TWh (94.5%).
  • Ukraine storage is up to 37.19% full with foreign companies storing natural gas in the country this summer as EU stores near capacity.

    • TTF Q1 24 down -1.1% at 46.99€/MWh
    • TTF SUM 24 down -0.4% at 46.1€/MWh
