EUROPEAN COUNCIL

The European Council summit in Brussels has issued its conclusions on the topic of migration after discussions this morning and afternoon. Link to full set of conclusions can befound here.

  • "The European Council will not accept any attempt by third countries to instrumentalise migrants for political purposes. It condemns all hybrid attacks at the EU's borders and will respond accordingly."
  • "The EU will continue countering the ongoing hybrid attack launched by the Belarusian regime, including by adopting further restrictive measures against persons and legal entities, in line with its gradual approach, as a matter of urgency.'
  • Mass flows of migrants through Belarus seen in EU as a direct attack on the bloc by the Lukashenko regime, which carries the support of Russia as well. Poland and Lithuania have been demanding greater EU action to assist with the flows.
