EURO-DOLLAR
EURO-DOLLAR: EUR/USD has oscillated in a tight range so far, last deals a touch
higher at $1.1171. BBG calendar shows the final readings of German, French and
EZ m'fing PMIs, although their release is scheduled for the European morning.
Little reaction seen in EUR/USD as the numbers are all in line with estimates.
- To recap, the rate was primarily driven by USD on Friday, with strong NFP data
dragging it to the intraday low of $1.1128. The move was erased thereafter, with
recovery aided by a weak ISM m'fing survey out of the U.S.
- Bulls look for a clean break above the highs of Oct 31/21 at $1.1176/79 before
setting their sights on the 200-DMA, which intersects at $1.1196. Bears would be
pleased by a downside breach of Friday's trough/100-DMA at $1.1128/24.
- Spaniards will head to the voting booths on Sunday, but the election is
unlikely to yield an easy solution to the ongoing political deadlock, as polls
see the Socialists retain a (slightly shrunk) plurality of seats.
- ECB Pres Lagarde will make her first speech as ECB Pres today, which provides
the highlight of the day. Separately, her ECB colleague de Cos will also appear.
