Europe Faces LNG Disruptions On French Strikes, Stormy Weather In The UK

LNG

Stormy weather in the UK could delay some LNG arrivals on Monday, Bloomberg ship-tracking data show, while strike action at France’s four LNG terminals could last past their previously scheduled end date on 14 March, a union official told Reuters.

  • "All the gas terminals and storages are in the hands of the strikers. Terminals are shut down. There is a decline in storage. We are waiting for Thursday when it will strengthen," the union official told Reuters.
  • Several LNG vessels in the past week have been diverted to other European offload points because of the blocked terminals in France.
  • In the UK, there are also worries about potential disruptions at LNG terminals because of stormy weather. Wind gusts on Monday morning were above the limit for entry and transit of vessels at Milford Haven, home to two of UK’s three LNG terminals.
  • One vessel from the US delayed its arrival at the South Hook terminal to Tuesday from Sunday, and another one, that is due to arrive on Monday, is currently waiting outside the facility, according to port data and ship-tracking data on Bloomberg.
