European Gas Maintenance Update

The upcoming yearly maintenance in Norway will significantly limit gas pipeline supply availability to Europe with capacity reductions of up to 174mcm/d during the peak on 4-6 September, Gassco remit data show.

  • Reduced capacity from Norwegian gas facilities is set to increase from this weekend. Around 41.6mcm/d of gas capacity is scheduled to be unavailable this weekend, before rising to 153mcm/d at the end of next week.
  • Norwegian gas pipeline flows to Europe averaged 328.83mcm/d so far this week.
  • The current maintenance at the Troll field, with an unavailable capacity of 5.5mcm/d, will increase unavailable capacity to 34.5mcm/d from 19-25 August before rising to 125mcm/d from 26 August to 7 September.
  • The Kollsnes processing plant will have reduced output of 16mcm/d until 21 August. Capacity reduction will be lower on 21-26 August of 11mcm/d before rising to 153mcm/d from 26 August to 7 September.
  • The Ormen Lange field will have reduced output of 20mcm/d on 24-25 August and of 25mcm/d on 25-26 August.
  • The Visund field will begin annual maintenance on 26 August until 7 September, limiting availability by 17mcm/d.
  • The Oseberg field will finalize maintenance on 23 August. The Segal fields will have maintenance until 28 August. The Kvitebjorn field will hold yearly maintenance from 25 August until 19 September.
  • In the UK, the Barrow North terminal has been restarted this morning.
  • The St Fergus gas terminal will be under maintenance until 1 September, limiting availability by 26.8mcm/d before rising to 30.8mcm/d on 1-29 September.
  • In France, the Dunkirk gas terminal will hold annual maintenance starting 26 August until 9 September, limiting availability by 47mcm/d.
