European LNG Imports At 16bcm in Jan: Kpler

European LNG imports in January stood at more than 16bcm, after December record-level imports of more than 18bcm according to Kpler estimates.

  • LNG demand in the region is expected to dip in February as Europe is on track to meet is storage targets and weather forecasts point to warmer temperatures, Energy Aspects LNG analyst Leo Kabouche said.
  • Asian demand remained muted, due to high LNG stock levels and the Chinese New Year holidays, Eleni Papadopoulou, gas analyst at Kpler, said.
  • “We expect to see a rebound in Asian demand after the holiday season assuming the cold snap persists across northeast Asia,” she added.
