European LNG Sendout Rises on Cooler Weather This Week

LNG

LNG imports into Europe remain strong with higher sendout this week to cover for the increased demand with temperatures below normal amid easing disruption at French LNG terminals.

  • Total European sendout averaged 415mcm/d in March but had risen to over 440mcm/d on 3 and 4 April with higher demand due to below normal temperatures. A total of 86 LNG cargoes arrived into NW Europe terminals in March compared to 68 in February but below the record 89 in December.
  • France’s Dunkerque LNG terminal will operate with reduced delivery capacity of 70 GWh/d for 24 hours starting 6 April 06:00CET. Two of Elengy’s LNG import terminals – Montoir-de-Bretagne and Fos Tonkin – returned on Wednesday. Fos Cavaou terminal will return on 7 April according to the latest nominations.
  • Pressure on LNG supplies is likely to ease into next week with demand expected to decline as warm weather returns to NW Europe.
  • A total of 21 vessels are currently scheduled to arrive at NW European terminals in the next couple of weeks. European imports are forecast to fall 12% in April due to lower demand and high storage levels according to Bloomberg.
