European PPA Prices Continue Upward

European power purchased agreements closed higher for the third consecutive time on 20 May, inching up by €0.83/MWh from 17 May, according to latest data from energy pricing firm Pexapark. PPA prices could be supported in the short term amid price increases in the energy complex.

  • EU PPA prices increased to €49.82/MWh on 20 May from €48.99/MWh on 17 May. This is the highest EU PPA prices have been since 16 April.
  • PPA prices in Germany climbed higher, up 2.61% compared to a 0.81% rise on 17 May. France moved up by 1.63% compared to a 3.22% rise.
  • PPA prices in the UK moved up the most, up 3.55% with values in Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Nordics and Poland also higher. Poland had previously fallen by 1.65% on the day on 17 May.
  • Solar PPA prices climbed 1.8% on the day, with offshore and onshore PPAs up 3.1% and 2.17%, respectively.
  • The TTF June is up 2.78% at €32.65/MWh at the time of writing.
  • The Dec 24 EU ETS price is up 2.2% at €75.85/t CO2e.
  • The German June is up 3.91% at €73.92/MWh.
