European PPA Prices Fall from 2024 High

European power purchased agreements (PPAs) fell from their yearly high on 24 May, edging down by €0.64/MWh – weighed down by losses in gas, EU ETS and power in the previous session, according to latest data from energy pricing firm Pexapark. Gains in the EU PPA market could be limited today amid slight increases in the energy complex.

  • EU PPA prices fell to €50.39/MWh on 24 May from €51.03/MWh on 23 May- the highest EU PPA prices had been since 27 December 2023.
  • PPA prices in major EU markets- including the UK- declined from the previous session.
  • The largest fall was seen in UK PPA prices, which dropped by 2.62%, with Germany down 1.74%.
  • France and Italy had notable losses of 1.68% and 1.41%, respectively.
  • Polish PPA prices were dented the least, down only 0.10%.
  • Solar PPA prices failed to continue upward, dropping by 1.37% compared to a 1.56% rise in the previous session.
  • Offshore and onshore PPAs down 2.27% and 1.67%, respectively, compared to a 2.34% and 1.48%, rise in the previous session.
  • TTF Gas JUN 24 up 2.1% at 34.825 EUR/MWh
  • EUA DEC 24 up 0.8% at 76.18 EUR/MT.
  • Germany Base Pwr JUN 24 up 0.6% at 75.78 EUR/MWh.
