EUROZONE DATA: Inflation Expectations Soften In-Line with Consensus

EUROZONE DATA

Eurozone consumer inflation median expectations on both the 1 and 3-year ahead horizon came in-line with consensus. The ECB's CES survey showed the 1-year ahead reading dipping to 2.7% after three months at 2.8% whilst the 3-years ahead expectation fell back to 2.3% after rising to 2.4% in July.

  • The 1-year ahead median inflation expectation therefore remains (although more comfortably) the lowest level since September 2021, whilst the 3-year measure returned to June's level.
  • Consumer nominal income growth expectations for the year ahead increased to 1.2% from 1.1% in July.
  • Finally, and of note, the mean expectation for economic growth over year ahead became less negative at -0.9% after weakening to -1.0% in July.
