Exxon Resumes Fuel Deliveries From Gravenchon Refinery

OIL PRODUCTS

Exxon Mobil has restarted deliveries of gasoline and diesel from its Gravenchon Port-Jerome oil-processing complex in the port of Le Havre, partly to ease a crunch in and around Paris according to a company spokesperson.

  • The Gravenchon site has been making gasoline and diesel deliveries since Thursday morning, ending a 10-day stoppage, an Exxon Mobil spokesperson said.
  • Exxon said it is too early to say if the resumption of crude deliveries into Le Havre in the past day means that the unit will restart, while the CGT union said on Thursday that strikes at the site will be extended until 6 April.
  • The company previously cited a lack of oil supply for halting the Gravenchon refinery, but France’s petroleum lobby group UFIP reported on Friday that oil product exports from Le Havre partly resumed.
  • France’s Paris region has been most significantly hit with fuel shortages in the past week. Around 31% of fuel stations in the region were missing at least on type of fuel on Tuesday.
  • Latest numbers show the overall fuel situation in France improved this week with 11% of French service stations lacking at least on type of fuel.
