Fiala Attends V4 Summit In Kosice, Jurecka Cals For Raising Taxes For Top Earners

Czech Prime Minister Fiala is en route to the Slovak city of Kosice, where he will participate in a summit of Visegrad Four leaders. The leaders of both houses of Czech parliament boycotted earlier meetings with their V4 counterparts over Hungary's stance towards Russia, with Fiala looking to confront Hungary's Viktor Orban over contentious issues.

  • Szeznam Zpravy reports that the government is working on the details of a pension reform that would gradually increase the retirement age from 65 to 68 between 2034 and 2070. Labour Minister Jurecka's advisory team is also advocating reducing the ratio of pensions to average wage.
  • Elsewhere, Jurecka told Novinky that Czechia must return to raising taxes in order to secure fiscal stability. Speaking on behalf of his party, he said the tax rates should be increased for top earners, without giving any details.
