Fin Min-I See Inflation Declining To ~4% This Year

French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire has stated that he sees the country's inflation rate declining to around 4% this year. The decline in headline inflation from 7.1% to 6.7% in December 2022 surprised markets and was taken by some as a signal that a reduction in energy prices have seen the worst of Europe's inflationary crisis pass.

  • Comes as Le Maire confirms that the tax-free 'Livret A' savings rate will rise from 2% to 3% from 1 February to account for the high level of inflation.
