Finance Minister Stanjura To Attend Next Bank Board Meeting

The Czech National Bank confirms in a statement that "all seven of its members will participate in the monetary policy meeting of the Bank Board (...) on Thursday, February 2, 2023. Minister of Finance Zbynek Stanjura will also take part in the meeting of the CNB Bank Board."

• The participation of a government member in a CNB monetary policy meeting is not unprecedented, albeit does not happen too often. Stanjura last attended the Bank Board meeting on August 4 last year in an advisory, non-voting capacity. A year before, a Bank Board meeting was joined by his predecessor Alena Schillerova.
• Under the CNB Act, the Minister of Finance or another designated member of the government may attend Bank Board meetings in an advisory capacity. By analogy, CNB Governor or a designated Deputy Governor may attend government meetings, without the right to vote.
