FinMin Rzeczkowska Expects Disinflation To Start In March, NBP Begins Two-Day Meeting

POLAND
  • Finance Minister Magdalena Rzeczkowska told PAP newswire that Poland is facing a "strong slowdown in consumption and an inflation peak" but price pressures are expected to start easing from March, with officials hoping that it will reach single-digit levels by the year-end. She noted that this year will be difficult, but should nonetheless see the economy grow and inflation cool. According to Rzeczkowska, Poland's GDP could increase by around 1% this year, which she said seems more realistic than earlier assumptions.
  • The NBP begins its two-day meeting today and will announce its outcome tomorrow. The central bank's decision will be informed by an updated macroeconomic projection.
