Finnish TSO to Increase Gas-Fired Reserve Plant by 78MW

POWER

Finnish TSO Fingrid will increase the capacity of its 180MW Huutokoski gas-fired reserve plant to 258MW as it plans to transfer three gas turbines from its Tahkoluoto and Vaskiluoto backup power plants, the TSO said today.

  • Construction work is expected to start in the summer 2024, with the project scheduled for completion in early 2026.
  • The Tahkoluoto gas-fired plant stopped production after the land lease came to an end in 2021, with two identical turbines available at the Vaskiluoto, according to the TSO.
  • Fingrid owns nice back-up power plants which are used to balance the power network in case of disturbances.
