Fitch Affirms Brazil Rating; Revises Outlook to Stable from Negative

BRAZIL

Ratings agency Fitch revises the outlook of Brazil's BB- rating to stable from negative.

They write:

  • Outlook revision reflects better-than-expected evolution of public finances amid successive shocks in recent years
  • Fiscal and growth challenges persist, and October 2022 elections pose some uncertainty around how these will be addressed
  • Expects broad policy continuity after elections
  • Expects general government debt to fall to 78.8% of GDP in 2022 from 80.3% in 2021 and 88.6% in 2020
