France Added 1.1GW of New Solar Capacity in Q1

French new solar PV installations rose by 1.1GW in Q1 2024 to reach 20.6GW, data from the Ministry of Ecological Transition showed.
- This means, France has exceeded its target of 20.1GW of solar capacity for 2023 set by the PPE.
- France has a pipeline of 26.9GW that are under review, including 6GW that are at an advanced stage.
- French solar PV output stood at 4TWh in Q1 2024, up by 11.2% on the year.
- Onshore wind capacity in France stood at 22.2GW as of the end of the first quarter, 1.9GW below the 2023 target of 24.1GW according to the PPE.
- New onshore wind installations totaled 295MW in Q1 2024.
- France has also 12.1GW of new onshore wind projects under review, which includes projects with a capacity of 1.9GW that are at an advanced stage.
- French wind power generation totaled 15.8TWh in Q1 2024, up by 5% on the year.
