France Released 5mn Barrels Fuel Stocks Since Last Week Amid Strikes

France has released 5mn barrels of strategic fuel stocks since last week as industrial action disrupted fuel deliveries, oil terminals and forced several refineries to halt operations or cut throughput according to Bloomberg.

  • Earlier this week, the authorities announced it had released 200,000 cubic meter of petroleum product, equivalent to 1.25mn barrels, since last week in order to avoid filling stations running dry.
  • According to France’s Transition Ministry, the nation has released strategic stockpiles in a targeted manner since the start of March. It has also asked airlines to preserve jet fuel reserves.
