France Says JCPOA Deal 'Within Reach'

  • French Foreign Affairs Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian has said to the French Senate: 'So we’re at a tipping point now on this. And it isn’t a matter of weeks, it’s a matter of days. We found a point of convergence among the so-called E3 – i.e. Britain, Germany and France –, China and Russia, and the United States; we found a point of convergence significant enough to enable an agreement which is, I have to tell you, within reach now.'
  • Iran’s chief negotiator in Vienna Ali Bagheri Kani said: ‘After weeks of intensive talks, we are closer than ever to an agreement; nothing is agreed until everything is agreed, though. Our negotiating partners need to be realistic, avoid intransigence and heed lessons of past 4yrs. Time for their serious decisions.’
  • The US State Department was also positive saying talks are ‘in the midst of the final stages.’
