French Diesel Imports Surge on Refinery Strikes

French diesel imports have risen by 70% in October versus the full month of September.

  • Diesel imports in the 1-10 October period reached over 590,000 bpd, 37% higher than October 2021 based on Vortexa figures.
  • Strike action has locked out around 60% of French refining capacity.
  • France has been mainly importing more diesel from India, accounting for 24% of the total for October.
  • Imports have also been coming from South Korea, with smaller volumes arriving from China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Italy, and northwest Europe
