French Strikes Forcing Less Nuclear Down Than At Begin Of Strikes

ELECTRICITY

Industrial action at EdF’s nuclear fleet in France has forced less nuclear capacity offline in recent days, compared with strike action at the start of the month, EdF remit data show.

  • Strikes at EdF’s sites on Friday morning forced 1.04GW of nuclear capacity offline, well below levels seen at the start of strike action on 6 March.
  • Latest weather forecasts suggest temperatures below the seasonal norm at the start of next week with average temperatures falling as low as 6°C, which is likely to spur some demand and, which will, in case of increased nuclear capacity reductions amid strike action, likely lead to higher gas generation.
  • Workers at Edf’s sites in France announced industrial action until 6 April.
