Futures Soften Overnight

JGB futures shed 7 ticks in overnight trade, going out at worst levels of the session as U.S. Tsys cheapened, with local participants now having to assess the overnight sell off.

  • Recent reports from TV Asahi suggested that the Japanese government is considering raising the cap of subsidies it pays to large commercial facilities cooperating by shutting their doors during the COVID state of emergencies evident across regions of Japan.
  • Locally, retail sales data and 2-Year JGB supply headline on Wednesday. A reminder that Japan will observe its Golden Week holiday period from Thursday, which may limit participation today. Markets will be open on Friday, with the monthly labour market report, flash industrial production readings and the BoJ's Rinban outline for May all set to hit on the final day of the week.
