Gasunie Explores LNG Import Capacity Expansion At Eemshaven, Rotterdam

LNG

Gasunie is looking to expand the country’s LNG import capacity at the port of Eemshaven and at the Gate terminal in Rotterdam after it discarded the possibility of adding a floating LNG terminal at the port of Terneuzen, it said.

  • The gas grid operator is targeting a fourth tank with 4BCM of capacity at the Gate terminal in Rotterdam, which currently has 16BCM of capacity.
  • It also looks to expand Eemshaven’s capacity to 9BCM by the end of the year, from 8BCM currently, and later to 10BCM.
  • In December, VTTI said it would build a new 5BCM LNG terminal in the southern province of Zeeland by early 2024.
  • If all projects being planned are completed, the Dutch LNG import capacity would rise to 35BCM.
