Gasunie Looks To Add Dutch LNG Import Capacity In 2023

LNG

Dutch energy network operator Gasunie is looking to add additional LNG storage and import capacity in the Netherlands ahead of the 2023/24 heating period, it said.

  • There are plans to expand the existing LNG facilities in Eemshaven and Rotterdam and to add one more floating LNG terminal at the port of Terneuzen.
  • Gasunie aims to add additional LNG import capacity to stabilise prices on the gas market and to ensure security of supply.
  • The additional LNG capacity will be temporarily until 2025/26 given the long-term transition to sustainable energy supply.
  • Gasunie hopes to add new capacity before the gas storage filling season, starting usually in April, if not ahead of the 2023/24 winter season.
  • TTF JAN 23 down -1.2% at 137.5€/MWh
  • TTF SUM 23 down -0.7% at 139.5€/MWh
