German Cabinet Set for Coal Discussions

Germany will look towards coal power this week, with its cabinet set to decide on Wednesday steps to reactivate coal-fired power plants according to economy ministry sources.

  • Germany is under pressure to save gas now that the Nord Stream 1 pipeline has switched off for 10 days and officials fear it’s return may be longer, if at all.
  • The energy regulator has said the maintenance period will impact Germanys ability to inject gas into storage ahead of winter.
