POWER: German February Power at Highest Since End November

German February power is extending gains to the highest since 26 November with support from colder weather, low wind output and gains in the energy complex. The German spot power index is expected to increase with lower wind output.
- Germany Base Power FEB 25 up 6.2% at 119.08 EUR/MWh
- EUA DEC 25 up 1.3% at 81.33 EUR/MT
- TTF Gas FEB 25 up 1.5% at 48.955 EUR/MWh
- German Spark Spreads M1 up 102.2% at 0.1345 EUR/MWh
- TTF is trading higher on the day supported by cooler weather and Norwegian supply issues and despite the current low withdrawal rates.
- EU ETS December 2025 allowances are trading higher today, supported by forecasts for colder, less windy weather in NW Europe and gains in EU gas prices, ahead of today’s COT data.
- UKA’s are extending gains driven today to the highest since 24 October, following Tuesday’s news that the UK plans relink its ETS market with the European ETS market.
- Wind output in Germany is forecast to fall to 12.53GW during base load on Thursday, down from 28.71GW on Wednesday according to SpotRenewables.
- The latest 6-10 day ECMWF weather forecast for Dusseldorf suggests mean temperatures have been slightly revised lower with temperatures above normal until 30 January before falling below normal until the end of the forecast period.
- Mean temperatures in Dusseldorf are forecast to decline to 6C on Thursday, down from 7.2C on Wednesday.
- Power demand in Germany is forecast to decline to 60.65GW on Thursday, down from 61.16GW on Wednesday according to Bloomberg.
- Residual load in Germany is forecast to increase to 44.49GWh/h on Thursday, up from 25.68GWh/h on Wednesday according to Reuters.
- Germany’s hydro balance has been revised lower on the day to end at 67GWh on 12 February, down from 221GWh a day earlier.
