MNI BRIEF: Eurozone Set For Moderate Downward Growth Revision
MNI (LONDON) - Stagnation in some eurozone countries in the final quarter of last year will mean downwards revision to 2025 growth forecasts, a senior EU official said on Wednesday.
"Real growth stagnated mainly due to weak domestic and also external demand which leads to a moderate downward revision of growth numbers for this year,” said the official.
The central scenario remains one of recovering economic activity later this year on robust labour markets, rising real incomes and a further easing of financial conditions remained, but U.S. trade policy means downside risks are growing, the official said. Eurozone finance ministers will discuss the economic outlook in Brussels on Monday, at a meeting which will also be joined by the European Commission and ECB. The Commission is expected to publish its next economic forecasts by mid-year.
