German Gas Demand Fell 19.9% Below Average Last Week

NATURAL GAS

German natural gas consumption last week stood 19.9% below the 2018-2021 average, Bnetza data showed.

  • Consumption declined by 5.3% week on week in calendar week 33 driven by lower consumption from households and small businesses, while industrial gas demand edged up week on week.
  • German gas storage capacity stood at 93.31% as of 22 August, up from 91.54% from a week earlier.
  • Forecasts for German combined onshore and offshore wind output in the coming week are low at load factors of 2-11% during base-load hours. Solar PV output is forecast at decline in the coming seven days to 12-17.8GW during peak-load hours. Lower renewables output will support gas-fired output for power generation.
