German Gas Demand Last Week Stood 22.6% Below 2018-21 Average

Germany’s natural gas consumption last week stood 22.6% below the average during the 2018-2021 period, Bnetza data showed.

  • Gas demand fell by 8% week on week, largely driven by lower demand from households and small businesses amid less heating demand.
  • German gas storage reserve levels are nearing its 75% target for 1 September. German natural gas reserves stood at 70.71% of capacity on 17 May, up from 68.81% a week earlier.
