German Gov't-Aware Of Nord Stream Rpt; Investigation Still Ongoing

The German Chancellery has stated that the federal gov't 'has taken note' of the NYT report on the Nord Stream gas pipelines. Adds that 'A few days ago, Sweden, Denmark, and Germany informed the UN Security Council that investigations are ongoing and there are still no results.'

  • This follows on from the NYT report alleging that intelligence seen by US officials suggested that a pro-Ukraine group had carried out the Sep-22 sabotage of the Nord Stream pipeline.
  • The letter to the UNSC stated that :"At this point, it is not possible to say when they [the investigations] will be concluded/ The authorities of Denmark, Germany and Sweden have been in dialogue regarding the investigation of the gas leaks, and the dialogue will continue to the relevant extent,"
  • In Feb, a spox for the German prosecutors office told EU Observer: "We have already conducted an on-site forensic search, with support of research vessels. Our investigations are ongoing and I cannot predict when they will be finalised,"
