German Regulator Targets 40% Gas Storage by Feb 1

The German regulator said the country’s energy situation this winter would be ‘tense’ if gas stockpiles fell below the 40-55% full range by Feb 1 calling it a ‘critical’ situation.

  • Currently, German inventories are 99% full, having benefited from a mild start to the winter heating season.
  • Germany is banking on higher LNG import capacity this winter now Russian flows have ceased for months. It’s LNG import capacity is already quickly developing with the recent completion of its new Wilhelmshaven terminal.
