POWER: German Solar, Wind Additions Rise M/M in February

German solar and onshore wind additions in February rose to 1.85GW, above the 1.44GW added in January and above last year’s level of 1.46GW, Bnetza data showed. 

  • German solar PV additions rose to 1.54GW last month, up from 1.24GW in January.
  • Total solar PV capacity rose to 102.64GW in February.
  • So far this year, Germany issued 10 permits for 140.4MW of solar PV capacity.
  • Onshore wind additions increased to 317MW in February, up from 202MW in January.
  • Total onshore wind capacity stood at 64.09GW at the end of last month.
  • Germany issued 310 permits for a combined capacity of 1.9GW of new onshore wind capacity this year.
  • Germany’s offshore wind capacity stood at 9.22GW, unchanged on the month.
  • In January and February, Germany issued 21 permits for 315MW of offshore wind capacity.
