The German spot power index is expected to extend gains amid forecasts for lower wind output. Germany March power is pulling back to the lowest since 4 February today with forecasts for milder weather and sharp losses in EU gas prices. 

  • Germany Base Power MAR 25 down 4.5% at 102.06 EUR/MWh
  • EUA DEC 25 down 1.9% at 78.77 EUR/MT
  • TTF Gas MAR 25 down 6% at 52.3 EUR/MWh
  • German Spark Spreads M1  down 42.1% at -22.154 EUR/MWh
  • TTF front month is extending the decline this week under pressure by the prospect of peace talks over the Ukraine war and as countries push for the EU to relax gas storage targets.
  • EUAs 2025 are pulling back to trade at the lowest since 28 January, with forecasts for milder weather and sharp losses in EU gas prices. The next EU ETS CAP3 auction will clear today.
  • Wind output in Germany is forecast to decrease to 4.18GW during base load on Friday, down from 8.8GW on Thursday according to SpotRenewables. Wind output is forecast to remain low over the next days with output seen to pick up gradually from mid next week.
  • The latest two-week ECMWF weather forecast for Dusseldorf suggests mean temperatures have been revised higher on the day to remain below normal until 19 February, after which temperatures will rise well above normal.
  • Mean temperatures in Dusseldorf are forecast to edge down to 1C on Friday, down from 1.1C on Thursday and below the seasonal average of 4C.
  • Power demand in Germany is forecast to fall to 62.25GW on Friday, down from 63.55GW on Thursday according to Bloomberg.
  • Residual load in Germany is forecast to rise to 55.9GWh/h on Friday, up from 53.74GWh/h on Thursday according to Reuters.
  • Germany’s hydro balance has been revised lower on the day to end at -11GWh on 27 February, down from 67GWh a day earlier.
